Severe Thunderstorms Rock Ridgecrest
Ridgecrest, 3-4-05

Residents of the Indian Wells Valley were amazed and surprised at Friday's severe weather display, and rocked with the sound of thunder and pea sized hail.

The storms, which began about 4 pm, dumped .92 inches of precipitation in a little over an hours time flooding streets and stranding motorist who faced the biggest threat of all with the storms; deadly lightning.

In the above photo, lightning struck this unoccupied car with no apparent damage.

Southland weather is expected to improve over the next few days with warmer temperatures and dryer conditions. Total rainfall accumulation from this storm was 1.23 inches.
